Newsalert - Published the European Commission’s guidance for the protection of strategic assets

On 26 March 2020 the communication from the European Commission no. 2020/C 99 I/01 providing for “Guidance to the Member States concerning foreign direct investment and free movement of capital from third countries, and the protection of Europe’s strategic assets, ahead of the application of Regulation (EU) 2019/452 (FDI Screening Regulation)” has been published on the Official Journal of the European Union.

The Commission’s guidance is aimed at avoiding that the economic downturn related to the ongoing Covid-19 emergency allows predatory buying in the European strategic sectors, including healthcare.
