Professor Martuccelli advises Italian and international clients on class actions and other complex civil, commercial, corporate, banking and insurance law matters, both in court and arbitration proceedings. Recognized as an Arbitration law expert, he is appointed arbitrator in ad hoc arbitrations and institutional arbitrations. He also provides out-of-court consultancy on Private Law with a focus on commercial contracts, corporate acquisitions, corporate disputes, national and international commercial arbitration, investment arbitration, and bankruptcy and pre-bankruptcy proceedings. Entrusted with the appointment under the Bank of Italy, he has been member of Surveillance Committees in the context of extraordinary administration proceedings (Banca Etruria e del Lazio S.p.A.; Prisma SGR S.p.A.). He acted as Chairman of the Commission for the Bar Exam 2017 at the Rome Court of Appeal. He has been a member of the Board of Directors of ITA Airways S.p.A., where he also chaired the Compensation and Nomination Committee. He is member of Guarantee Tribunal at the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI). He has been a member of the Board of Directors of R.F.I. S.p.A. (Rete Ferroviaria Italiana) and a member of the Audit and Risk Committee of the company.
Silvio was ranked by Legal 500 as Leading Lawyer and by Benchmark Litigation as Litigation Star for Dispute Resolution and Arbitration Sector; furthermore, in 2021, he has been awarded as Italian Dispute Resolution Lawyer of the Year during the Benchmark Litigation Europe Awards.

Full Professor of Private Law since 2001, he is currently tenured at the University of Rome LUISS Guido Carli, Department of Law, where he holds the chair of Private Law; he also teaches Private Law in the Department of Business and Management. He has taught (in English) European Private Law in the Department of Law and Principles of Civil Law in the Department of Economics and Finance at the same university. He has previously taught Civil Law, as well as Contract Law (in English), in the Faculty of Law of the University of Parma, as well as Private Law in the University of Teramo, where he was Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Law and Director of the Department of Private Law. He is a Member of the Italian Civil Law Association, of the Union of Private Law Scholars and of the Italian Society of Civil Law Scholars, of which he was a member of the Board of Directors.
